At times, I even tried to make it look like it was in my POV. But then, as the watcher, is that POV then theirs, too? I am interested in how a prop may lend to that same effect, and if I can achieve that by connecting it with the third voice. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

(1/2)The prop that stuck with me was the little screaming Lisa simpson cause I kept thinking that was so me core lol. I feel like it describes how I feel on the inside and I could totally see it being the inside of like a soap character or smth too

I watched the prop of the baby doll so closely as Patty put it in odd places, and held it weirdly. The moms watching are at home with the kids, and Patty turns this on its head with how she treats the doll. I want to find an object like this to turn on its head. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

One prop in Painted Dreams that felt charged to me was the Mcdonalds toys. I just connected to those right away because I would always collect them when I was younger. I think these props showed the passion to make these projects and connect it to Patty’s childhood. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

I would say it has to be the fish tank. I mentioned it in a previous post, but the fish tank to me felt like it was both a summary of the current scene and a reminder to the audience that it is a stage of actors.

It teaches me that I might be missing a secondary-

think the idea of the fish tank is absolutely brilliant. I was a little confused while watching, but now I truly understand that it carries a symbolic rather than a literal meaning. I believe incorporating this into our upcoming project will add a great deal of depth.

one prop that stood out to me was the small everyday objects like toys or household items because they felt more emotional than functional. they made me realize that in my own project, objects can carry meaning beyond just being part of the scene #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

I think the emoji balloons felt especially charged to me since it was one of the things that made the most sense to me. It was replacing actors and portraying that dramatic look mentioned in the film. I think it teaches me to think more in symbolism and metaphors. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

#hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops Patty discussed the fishbowl, which I really enjoyed hearing their take. They said it reflected domestic spaces in which soap operas are generally set. It's clear, so you can see right in, as you do in a soap opera. I need to be more creative with my metaphors.

#hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops Personally, the scene with the two people spinning the fidget spinners stuck out to me the most. I feel like this is because of the "surprise" I felt when I would visualize seeing it, even though I didn't expect it to be part of the Painted Dreams.

it is a biological condition, and really has nothing to do with gender. It taught me about my own project in progress because it made me realize that there's a lot more dissonance in the things that I have in my everyday life. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

What this teaches me about my own project in progress is that I can use objects to symbolize harsh realities. Even seemingly innocent or dainty ones. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

Patty's use of the fish tank she mention was very powerful to me because it seemed out of place when I first saw it. Hearing her explanation as well as watching both seasons helped. It reminds me that in my final project I should look for the most direct comparsion.

#hwa7#propsarenotjustprops the baby/wet wipes for some reason felt extra charged to me because of the different contexts we kept seeing them in,and the constant presence of them. They were used in such weird ways when, for ex, wiping the baby. It was used for the expected, but not in the expected way

#hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops I thought the fish tank acting as a foundation for which all of the different actors can play on was itself a very versatile medium, particularly at the beginning of season 2 before the first intermission. The actors were able to interact with eachother within the tank.

(the spinning plus the stare accompanying it). It played into the passiveness, but directly snapped me out of it. The stare snapped me back into the moment: "Oh, I am currently watching Painted Dreams." In my SME3, I intentionally keep faces out as much as I can.

The fidget spinner! I mentioned this before in various tweets, but it is a prop found in both seasons. It felt at first like a play on real life. Other times, it felt as if it were playing into the hypnotic passive watch viewers can fall into +

I think the emoji balloons were truly the one prop that felt especially charged to me. It's such a creative implementation of something we use everyday (emojis in text) in an unconventional scenario (real life) to show expression, and I think that it actually helped 1/2 #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops

One prop that stood out to me was the couch/living room setup. It felt really normal but also fake at the same time. It made me realize props can show meaning just by how they’re placed, not just what they are.

#hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops One prop that stood out to me was the baby doll. In some scenes, it just feels like a baby, simple and almost normal, but in others it clearly feels like an object being used to show something else. It does not really create empathy like a real baby would.

the product placement that was discussed by patty was so interesting,i rewatched it and was like wow omg, and her reasoning of it being a daytime show for housewives therefor products would want to finance. it drove that story, which then drove pattys. i should do the same #propsarenotjustprops #hwa7
