#proquest
My favorite Halloween party is once again on the night of a local ProQuest. It gives me an excuse to dress up all day!

ProQuest, Wiley, etc.:

I am not EVER going to want to ask your chatbot about an article or book. I do not want their summaries.

I want the option to hurl that part of your user interface and experience into the blackest depths of the loneliest abandoned mine on earth.

Have you seen the actual numbers? That's as far from the truth as it can be.

We’re excited to announce Web of Science DeepR, a new set of capabilities that brings AI-assisted document exploration and full-text content from ProQuest, from Clarivate, and other sources directly into the Web of Science experience.

My original dissertation chair made a horrible mistake and instead of acting in integrity, my new chair, an administrator, told me if I did not lie to pretend it never happened, that I would fail.

That is UNACCEPTABLE.

We all saw me freak out for 5 months now, refusing to put it in proquest.

The fact that anyone has to pay ProQuest to get someone's dissertation when for years we supplied them freely through Interlibrary Loan makes my blood BOIL.

I haven't tried the ProQuest API, though would be surprised if ProQuest could tell API calls come from a local agent? Are you running Claude Code or the Chat?
Claude Cowork is able to run in a visible browser and I can interact with verification/authentication steps there if needed.
September 29, 2026 at 2:06 PM
So the agent's API calls to ProQuest, for example, aren't blocked? A good number of the folks I am finding have left academia entirely so there's a lot less information to go on without triangulating to their potential advisor(s) if they list the advisees & project titles on their CVs

me rn downloading journal articles offa proquest to write this doujin

- Can’t set up a useful API call because of access restrictions and the messiness of the data

- I have to check a box confirming I’m human every few minutes in ProQuest

What seems like a simple enough task involves *SO MUCH* cognitive effort & sideways sleuthing! 4/end
September 28, 2026 at 10:04 PM
- IN THEORY ProQuest dissertations OCR search with the combination of keywords, degree, year(s), and institution should find it, but some dissertations aren’t indexed (???)

- many folks didn’t put the NSF funding in their acknowledgements section

- CVs aren’t always available to cross-ref 3/x

Still shaking. My jaw is relaxing. It was so tense. I really cannot hold on to lies for abusers. It costs too much.

I just froze. I need help finding a good education harm lawyer. I need this made right. I need my communities help. Everyone saw how I refused to put my dissertation in proquest,

Review discovery and links: During the dual-access period, we recommend updating links and discovery settings to direct users to the ProQuest platform experience.
September 28, 2026 at 5:09 PM
Dual access period: Access will be available on both the Alexander Street platform and the ProQuest platform during the migration period.
Updated library configuration information: Information on URLs, MARC records, and discovery configurations will be provided to support your transition.

Has that disappeared? I was using the Google Newspaper Archive to access the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age before ProQuest finally put them in a database.

Split finals of my draft proquest today, opened a fable and a gold foil bloodied oval, so not the worst day ever. We had some wacky pods but i definitely read my seats right.

Wow, what an incredible weekend of gaming! Our Magic the Gathering: Reality Fracture pre-release was a blast, and we kicked off our Flesh and Blood Proquest bright and early. Thanks to everyone who joined us for all the fun!

Won a limited PQ for a change to keep the points off Fai. #fabtcg

4-1 swiss with a barely functional Vis pool (2 yellow enshrine sins were the MVP) and then went ninja necro to get there in the t8 draft.

had an unfathomably bad ProQuest experience today you simply have to laugh

Never turning off Judges of Rathe discord notifications because this is the only way I have of knowing that it’s ProQuest season
September 26, 2026 at 4:48 PM
Great reporting. Worth calling the article up through ProQuest and your public library if you don't have a WSJ account
