Hence my complaint that leaders are not taking people through an intense period of change, indeed as an example their proselytising about AI demonstrates a total lack of understanding at the dislocation that people are feeling.
This is a failure of politics.

Another thing many underestimate is the sheer rage and the depth of the misinformation they're facing. Much right populism is emotional and psychological, a deep phenomenon which may not be particularly amenable to policy. At its simplest it's a turning outwards of insoluble frustration. (1/3)

Atheism is not a religion, that’s the point. At the very least, learn how something you feel the need to brag about, works.

was never a fan of this but it became much more sinister to me when I eventually realized that public proselytization isn't designed to convert members of the public (it literally never works) but as a brainwashing/indoctrination technique aimed by the religion at the proselytizers

This is I think one of the many striking things about Starmer’s antisemitism response: no sense that you do actually need to take the country on a journey, you can’t just go “that’s racist” and have people go “oh! Well I won’t do that again” without proselytising.
