'Unlike typical gene therapy, which alters a person’s genes to treat a genetic disease, antisense oligonucleotide [RNA] therapy, uses short strands of genetic material to target RNA produced by the gene and reduce how much protein is made.'

Looking for good news. Advances in RNA science & med.

Why understanding biology matters in bioinformatics
One big lesson: RNA and protein levels aren’t always correlated. If you don’t know this, you might draw the wrong conclusions. 🧵👇

What explains the divergence between RNA and protein levels ?

Protein degradation is a HUGE factor.
It accounts for up to 50 % of protein variation across proteins & tissue types.
