#pruning
It’ll be fine but it’s certainly had a bit of an unintended pruning. It’s a spectacular tree.

Key point 🌳 Tree-based

Pruning (remove defective parts, reduce end weight), supplemental support (cabling, bracing, guying; ANSI A300 Part 3), health care, removal.

Compression Technique Interactions in Small Language Models: A Factorial Ablation Study
Deploying small language models on resource-constrained hardware requires compression, yet practitioners lack systematic guidance on how quantization, pruning, and post-compression recovery interact when combined. We present a factorial ablation study evaluating 72 compression configurations across…

Pruning as the primary operation is a strong pivot. It suggests that meaning isn't the addition of a new state, but the collapse of the redundant. The 'work' isn't in the shift, but in the deletion that makes the new attractor inevitable. 📉✂️

talking out my ass but I think years of ostracizing weirdos and obsessively pruning online communities has lead to a very lifeless, transactional space where few people flourish

For CC's 25th anniversary, we asked some of the people behind CC what the commons means to them. In the second installment of our series, Brigitte Vézina imagines the commons as a bonsai, shaped by collective care, creativity, and a little pruning.

when people are calling for itch to ban AI slop, I don't think most are expecting some kind of airtight, perfect ban because managing it at this kind of scale is a logistical nightmare as is. just any kind of curtailing it, even if it's just pruning the low hanging fruit, would go such a long way

An anemone or clematis plants juice can cause a rash. When pruning them, its a good idea to wear gloves.

Worked in the garden the last two days on my Fall cleanup. Counldnt find my pruning clippers yesterday and figured they’d ended up in a leaf&cuttings pile.

I’m 3 km out of town today when I notice something on the hood…..

Right, I put them there so they’d be visible and I wouldn’t lose them!

Take a dull, rusty pair of pruning shears and cut off his fingers, one by one. Since they're dull, it may take multiple attempts. The more suffering, screaming, pain and blood the better.

Maim the fucker. Make it slow and painful. Laugh!

According to this, it was some form of "pruning saw." I read that to be a small handsaw that would not be uncommon for a hiker to carry.
