Psyraps don't have the finesse to be spacefarers, those that do make it on a ship typically do so as cargo (prisoner, captive, slave, or maybe even stowaway). They wouldn't do very well in such a small space, and are too likely to hunt the crew if given the chance.

#throwbackthursday this piece of mase with his goons. some things have changed since then with psyraps. their nipples are on their lower belly now. short muzzles are now exclusive to the sub-adult and younger stages. they also have less but bigger teeth now. otherwise they are as unhinged as always.

One of the most popular for psyraps is building armor out of certain dragon species scales to fire/acid proof themselves when hunting large fire/acid breathers.
What is the most popular form of craft in your constructed world? Is it popular across all of your world's peoples and/or lineages, or only a few of them? What makes this craft popular: is it because of its practical uses, its cultural significance, or something else entirely?

The crafts psyraps tend to adopt in life is metalsmithing, hidetanning, and homebrewing.
Creative psyraps take up scarification, etching, openwork, and hand poked tattooing. They rarely paint mostly due to colorblindness, and sewing is almost impossible for their stocky hands and farsightedness.
What kinds of crafts do your constructed world's peoples partake in? Are they weavers, are they sculptors? Do some of them paint or sew? Do they build things that are seen as "unnecessary" for survival, or add aesthetic changes to things that are? If they don't craft at all, why?

With their large size, brute strength, and insane pain tolerance, Psyraps are perfect for forging and blacksmithing. Working with metal is ideal for them since they don't view it as a food item, and because it's so often salvaged from raids and defeated would-be slayers clad in armor.

The most popular form of toy amongst psyraps is smaller living beings with spicy attitudes. They like robust specimens that can survive negligent care at best and abusive treatment at worse, and offer a respectable level of combativeness that makes breaking them that much more entertaining.

Psyrap's live a balls to the wall life, warmongering dangerous rivals and preying on formiddable beasts for fun. This makes violent death a casual part of everyday life for them, and means psyraps that reach old age are a revered rarity - young adults innately find beauty in these elder warriors.
Is there anything in your constructed world that is unconventionally beautiful? Is this beauty something you can see, hear, or otherwise experience using one's senses, or can it only be experienced by a select few? Is it only seen as a form of beauty for a certain group of peoples?

Image is a little on the satirical side tbh, but psyraps really have been hilariously banned in at least two different species servers. I've been told these spaces stalk their members activity outside of discord and force them to purge characters they dissaprove of under threat of banishment.
If you're a mature 21+ creative fiending for a safe space to explore dark, taboo, and nasty subjects through a fantasy setting, then check out the psyrap server discord.gg/B46fj5tuTx
We allow uncanons, encourage RPing, and all bases are F2U!
We do NOT allow AI, cub, or zoo art.
September 19, 2026 at 3:16 PM
Those people sound… strange. I can understand why people would be uncomfortable with the topics that psyraps explore, but they could just ask people not to post about those topics in their servers and leave it at that. It seems easier than stalking community members.

A psyrap's primary idea of beauty is a strong and healthy natural musk, laced with the blood and piss of butchered prey.
A very close second is the size of the others talons and teeth.
Their tertiary idea of beauty lies in face markings with a high contrast.

Psyrap medicine is very bare bones, disorganized, and doesn't normally include magic. They often have one or two members of the group who are designated medics. If they don't bother training an underling, then their knowledge will die with them, since psyraps don't practice reading and writing.

Psyraps are a nomadic species who will migrate to prevent the following or because the following has come to pass: prey numbers dwindling, prey migrates, the temps are better elsewhere, the scourge splintered, it's mating season, territorial disputes, disease, or prosecution from the locals.
Is migration a concept within your constructed world? If not, did it used to be one, and if it did why did it fall out of favor? If it is, why do its creatures migrate: due to temperature, resources, something else entirely? How do these migrations start, and how do they travel?

Psyraps prepare for immediate futures or events that happen with regularity. They send scouts ahead of a trail to clear the path. They prepare armor and first aid for battles. They strategically weaken prey for their children to practice hunting on. They stalk occupied locations before raiding them.

For the most part, psyraps are instinctual and ignore history.

But when a psyrap dies, their face skin is removed, dried, and worn as a way to remember the fallen brethren for months or even years to come.

They don't have a true written language and so do not record anything.
How do the peoples of your constructed world stay in touch with their history? Do they record events with words, performances, textiles, something else; do they ignore their history entirely, and only focus on their instincts? Does every lineage recall history in the same way?

Psyraps have a loose connection with their the past (and future.) This frees them from feelings of regret and some forms of trauma but makes them poor historians. If there was anything that happened so long ago as to have no living witnesses to confirm it, it might as well have never happened.

Oh I love that! It's similar with some of my alien species. Humans couldn't pronounce their names correctly, e.g, because our anatomy is different or because they don't even use sound for communication.

I somewhat assume that Psyraps speak with sanrly, harsh sounds. How do they sound for real?
August 22, 2026 at 9:07 PM
Demeanor does not apply beyond kin, as far as psyraps are concerned they are allowed to do whatever they want with prey, and "prey" is any species that is not them. Of course, they will run into problems if those prey are organized and powerful enough to force psyraps to pay for their crimes.

Psyrap leaders are often "skelder" which is a sterile sex. These psyraps have far less hormones ravaging their bodies, and are not so blinded by an insatiable need for sex and blood. Being more clear headed, they are typically able to think more critically than their kin.

Psyraps are typically part of a pack, called a Scourge. They do not need the scourge for protection, they need it for resources. Their instinctual desire to have the scourge succeed makes them self governed, but there is always a leader or two to help with direction and issues.

Psyrap societal structure is based on a stat called Demeanor which determines how likely they are to make war or peace with kin. Most psyraps are "go with the flow" with others of their kind, which keeps the interspecies violence just low enough to prevent extinction.
