Indeed, if you look at the rear of the Maryhill Leisure centre, you can still see the original facade and the inscribed ghost sign identifying its origin as a bath house.

These are (top left to bottom right) the Whitevale Baths, the Whiteinch Baths, the Parkhead Batha, the North Woodside Baths, the Maryhill Baths and the Govanhill Baths.

As you can see from these photos, each had its own distinctive appearance, making them a key architectural, as well as social, feature in many local neighbourhoods.

It's called Bath Street because it was here that the city's first indoor public bath house was opened by a local textile merchant and entrepreneur William Harley in the early 1800s.
