If you remember the public domain images I was modifying, I put them up on itch. They are also CC0. Hopefully someone finds them useful for their projects, blog, etc.

Overwhelmed by chaotic days? You're not alone. I was out of my mind creating this: Art from old Japan when a dragon rising out of soup and a shogun carrying a frog.
✨ Quietly wild. Occasionally unhinged. Reviving public domain art, always handpicked😀

Still-life paintings of fruits and food were not just decorative art; they symbolized themes like abundance, mortality, and the passage of time. In an era without photography, these detailed works documented the beauty of everyday life and the natural world. #PublicDomainArt

I recently discovered The Courtauld has put a lot of their collection up online. As most of the works are in the public domain, you can use their artworks for your own projects.
Get access to their collection here.

"The fool & his money" (1899) by Louis Dalrymple was entered into public domain on January 1, 2020.

Nearly 120 years after it's publication, the satire is still excruciatingly realistic.

This is Utagawa Kuniyoshi's whimsical art, from a famous Bunraku (Edo Japan's puppet theater) play.
Kuniyoshi replaced the sacred basin with seafood, gold with mackerel, and Diva with dramatic cats. Naturally.

A legendary samurai. A forest battle. A giant serpent summoned by a robber chief.
…and one black cat in the middle of it all, chasing vibes, not villains — but we’re mostly here for the cat, who clearly didn’t read the plot.

Before photography, prints helped Americans picture the nation’s founding story.

This hand-colored N. Currier lithograph, made between 1835 and 1856, imagines the signing of the Declaration in Independence Hall.
