pupice
I feel like I dreamt this word and thought it was real for a long time
it's related to the word pupa, like a pupal casing

lmao this idiot doesn't even get a pupal stage, fucking loser
October 7, 2026 at 9:36 PM
human? no, I'm afraid not.

I'm the pupal stage of something much different.

So excited to today start a NERC-funded visitation at @nerc-eof.bsky.social @sheffielduni.bsky.social! I'll be metabarcoding bumblebee-foraged pollen and nectar, aiming to uncover season-long forage choice in comparison to colony stage, floral diversity, and land-use. Decent place to be for a month!

Also the Pupal is being supported by their friend with a Luca itabag so i tried to draw them as a Lucub!

i drew this in 2hrs 18m, and this is my first ever comic. i'm sorry if there's any inaccuracies!

That's still just the pupal stage of his species.

this is such a darling pupal!! but the “pawan” vocal stim is so real, especially when Sensei does it—it just scratches a part of the brain real nice
October 4, 2026 at 7:19 AM
I've really done it now. New vocal stim is just going "Pawan" repeatedly in th3 pupal voice TwT

Happy Birthday Nikenna! I hope today was filled with good moments and beautiful colours, with more to come in the years to follow! Pupal looks so happy to celebrate the beauty that is you, too! 🥰

You are so sweet, thank you Hlia! 😊 It's been a wonderful day, full of treats and birthday wishes! I'm getting more comfortable with digital art and I'm very happy with how my pupal turned out. 🤍

It boggles my mind to think of how many little pupal cases from leatherjackets there must be scattered around here from which the adult craneflies emerged, like tentative, long-legged butterflies.

A female Clouded Footman #moth (wingless) laying eggs on her sparse cocoon made from the hairs of the caterpillar. Her empty pupal case can be seen inside. Beautiful little pink and white furry body, and a remarkable view of her last two life stages.

Laboratory Biology, Immature and Adult Morphology of Trichopria drosophilae (Perkins) (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae), Parasitoids of Drosophila Flies
This study investigates the laboratory biology and morphology of the parasitoid Trichopria drosophilae, which targets Drosophila flies, including the invasive Drosophila suzukii. Key findings include a detailed description of the parasitoid's egg, three larval instars, and pupal stage, as well as unique behaviors such as siblicide and encapsulation in cases of superparasitism. The paper also provides morphological distinctions between T. drosophilae and related species, contributing to its identification and aiding future studies on its role in biological control.

Ahhhh, home at last!

The pupal chamber is beginning to crumble a little around the stick handle. I had to be really careful turning it over to peek inside.

A good night for migrant moths at Puncknowle, Dorset with a record (for the site) 25 Vestals, showing a nice range of colours. This is determined by pupal temperature: hot gives a light straw background, cooler produces darker pink or brown.

From an otherwise unremarkable trap today came a remarkable 7 Vestal in #Bristol All were this pink-flushed form (6/7 in pics) that are more common this year but I've not caught before - apparently the flushing caused by pupal stage heat. Where are they coming from? @migrantmothuk.bsky.social #moths

Aphidoletes aphidimyza is an important predatory midge in the augmentative biological control of aphids.
Effects of Cold Storage Duration and Pupal Age on Eclosion, Fitness, and Progeny Performance in the Predatory Midge Aphidoletes aphidimyza

Effects of Cold Storage Duration and Pupal Age on Eclosion, Fitness, and Progeny Performance in the Predatory Midge Aphidoletes aphidimyza
We examined how pupal age (1–7 days) and cold storage at 8°C (7–28 days) affect the aphid predator Aphidoletes aphidimyza. Pupae aged 3–5 days stored for ≤ 14 days maintained > 80% eclosion, normal adult longevity and fecundity, and preserved progeny larval predation capacity. Storage beyond 21 days severely reduced eclosion and reproduction, especially in older pupae. Using 3–5-day-old pupae with ≤ 14 days of cold storage ensures high quality for biological control.
