Putnisite for me! Was briefly tempted by Julienite. But it won out over Calcite, so I'm sticking with Putnisite. And remember, putnisite has a gorgeous yarn named after it.

Honestly, putnisite. People seem to be voting for julienite because the reason for the name is sad, and halite and chrysocolla are not inherently sad.

Julienite is just some blue mineral (which beat Calcite! 😩) so I am voting Putnisite for the distinct pleochroism of its purple to blue-grey crystals. Plus it is named, in part, after a woman in STEM (which is shockingly rare!) mineralogist Christine Putnis and her spouse Andrew. #MinCup26

If people are going to vote for a novelty mineral over a do-everything classic ( #TeamCalcite ), then it might as well be truly novel. #Putnisite has not only no related minerals, but also no related synthetic materials—and it's only been found in one place on one planet.
