Energy Exemplar has blocked all TU Berlin students from academic licences for their energy modelling tool PLEXOS because competitor PyPSA is developed here. While deeply shocked, we believe in turning the other cheek. So we are offering all Energy Exemplar employees a free licence for PyPSA.

Agentic AI is surely the Killer App of open energy modelling - just watching the agents play with @pypsa-org.bsky.social workflows, it's hard to imagine how closed suites can compete.

The @pypsa-org.bsky.social ecosystem will remain open-source and co-maintained by multiple institutions, providing strength in diversity. PyPSA Labs will take over the lead on core maintenance tasks for PyPSA and PyPSA-Eur from TU Berlin over the next year.
