enjoyed this GDC writeup of the Avowed QA analysis talk by David Benefield -- about doing more white box QA to proactively review game code and scripts for bugs www.gamedeveloper.com/programming/...

I did a QA with Quanta about interpretability and training dynamics! I got to talk about a bunch of research hobby horses and how I got into them.

QA isn’t just “playing games all day.”
[TOGE TALK - EP. 2]

Yoyo, QA Manager at Toge Productions, shares what really happens behind the scenes, from bug reports and common misconceptions about QA.

Wow, talk about random — Hidden Palace found a final build of the cancelled PS3 Dancing Eyes.

If you’re unfamiliar: Dancing Eyes is an arcade/PSOne game that’s basically “Gals Panic but 3D and suggestive instead of lewd and also messed up in hilarious ways)

How do you do QA for a game in which everything is *breakable*? The DK Bananza QA talk at CEDEC answers that (img 1). It started with the philosophy of “experience first” (img 2):

• Ensure destruction doesn’t spoil experience
• Do not restrict freedom to avoid bugs
• If a bug is fun, use it

I gave a talk on #QA in #GitHub: ditch the spreadsheets, embed QA in your workflow, make it a habit.

Not satire. Fast track to talk rejection if you can’t be bothered to QA your submission, why should we believe you will deliver better quality on stage?
PSA: If you choose to submit a novel research talk to one of the top security conferences in the world, maybe check your proposal text all the way through so "Claude may make mistakes. Please check your answers." isn't the final line.

I'm speaking at #GCAP25! Come and join me if you want to get the inside scoop on how you can justify investing in QA early in your projects, and why doing so will save the sanity of your entire team.

We screech about this all the time, but this talk is less screeching and more informing/empowering.

Sony did a talk on using machine learning and AI in QA at CEDEC in Yokohama in August, and it wasn’t about replacing humans in the process!

It was an interesting talk about what it can do to evolve the QA process, so I summarized it after attending the event and the piece is finally live

I think about how when tech bros talk about AI getting rid of friction, that friction in companies is often product people, QA, designers, etc. who would tell you the idea is shit in a typical business where it’s not just strapping an AI rocket to your back and pointing to a gap in the walls

There's no need for it to be ai though (and it probably isn't, it's just sales talk), just record your human in house QA testers actions and run that.

The only true regulatory/policy solution is that companies must be fully liable for the products they create, especially when they’ve ignored every warning, done virtually no safety QA, and are pushing this into schools and hospitals. Then we can talk about “guardrails” in the model.

It always shocks me when stakeholders act like I'm putting them out by asking lots of questions about how the app is intended to work. "It's already been QA tested. You're just here to do security testing."

Um... We need to talk. This is negligent thinking. 1/2
Ancient pentest wisdom.

Tell me why AI is necessary all of a sudden. I'm a 30-year IT QA/DBA guy, so don't talk down to me. Why?

real talk: I love how this was going to be HPC's last video. (he mentioned it in a QA some time afterwards) That explosion of the paper fibers caused his channel to explode in popularity as well.

Yeah, I came to something similar, a moot who'd been dealing with weeks of /qa/ being infested by /new/ nazis who were starting to spread around the site met Epstein, and couldn't help but talk about what was on his mind, which was that.

For the Kaska Dena, it’s a moment decades in the making. They’ve proposed a four-million hectare Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area called Dene K’éh Kusān. Now, they’re hoping B.C. will formally recognize it. via @ainsliecruickshank.bsky.social : thenarwhal.ca/bc-qa-gillia...

Fighting to keep talk time low - but not too low to get flagged!

Don't want a bad QA on your record or you'll end up on 3rd shift with weekends in the shift bids.

Trying to respond with a smile in your voice, looking at the monitor stirred mirror they gave you as an 'incentive' last Xmas.

This GDC talk was amazing!! Obsidian's QA lead made a strong case for bringing your QA team *closer* to your design teams to catch bugs before they hit the build.
