or a mister FPGA. Even if you live in Stupid Tariff Land, there's lots of sellers on aliexpress selling the QMTech one at reasonable prices that know how to do the paperwork.
My genuine advice? It's cliche but: get as good of an emulation handheld and as big of an SD card as you can afford, do it as quickly as possible, and prepare to hunker down. (There are good sub-$100 devices, too!) You'll get a lot more mileage than you will any "legit" hardware the next 3-5 years.

Got my DE10 Nano clone QMtech board and I’m running tests on it now.
Technically, it’s a fully usable MISTer now but I have the IO board enroute now.
Honestly, this is all so I can have frame-accurate Neo-Geo Arcade play.
