Easy with modern distros. Only real grubby/edge case audio hardware or some pro multi-channel stuff (which Helvum or QpwGraph can solve now) have issues out-of-box with pipewire, now.

I just use Carla in Pulseaudio in Patchbay mode. Most guides recommend JACK w/ Continuous Rack. A sink will appear in qpwgraph which you can easily connect your applications to, and output to a device/sink. The VSTs are managed in Carla, with the Patchbay UI being the same kind of UI as qpwgraph.

Yeah, that tracks.
IIRC the audio server in mint is pipewire. Since the issue is super specific like that it's probably pipewire fumbling the bag at some point in the audio stack.
If it's just software you can probably fix this using a pipewire gui like qpwgraph or coppwr.

IIRC the audio server in mint is pipewire. Since the issue is super specific like that it's probably pipewire fumbling the bag at some point in the audio stack.
If it's just software you can probably fix this using a pipewire gui like qpwgraph or coppwr.

i have this fantasy about contributing to pipewire because i keep experiencing this issue where a system notification briefly interrupts the loopback line in to line out i have set up via the qpwgraph program.
