Jane Seymour REALLY liked cash (see my new book on her). She also apparently really liked bowls. The Earl of Rutland was furious when he presented her with a gift of gooseberries and she stole the bowl. Here’s the pictorial proof 😆 #janeseymour #queenjaneseymour #tudor #tudors #sixwives

Jane Seymour queen of England for only 17 months. In her lifetime, however, she was a significant political figure, while her legacy and memorialization extended beyond her early death following childbirth

One of the most exciting finds in my research on Jane Seymour was a likely new birthdate. Often claimed she was born 1508, but based on no evidence. Based on a manuscript account of her funeral, I’ve placed her age at death as 24, so born late 1512 or 1513

The very first time Jane Seymour appears with certainty in a contemporary source is in Jan 1534, less than 4 yrs before her death. This is not at all unusual for a 16thC woman.

Read more in Jane Seymour: Patronage, Material Culture and Image Crafting, out now.
