There is nobody like me in any of the queerwave shows but there sure was room for the enby pretending to be a girl to infiltrate the princess team and who is voiced by a self professed sissy who is very weird about transfems!
Every time I try to watch one of those American queerwave cartoons I'm left asking questions like, is that animation going at... 5 frames per second? 10 maybe? Why does everything lack detail? Why are the backgrounds so bad? Why is there no lighting or shadow? Why does it look like THAT?

It outqueers a lot of queerwave cartoons (while being for adults) and outanimates Lower Decks (while keeping its humor actually funny instead of an eternal cringefest) into the ground. I think even its spaceship looks better than the horrific CGI object in LD.

there are a lot of queerwave characters with a powerful transfeminine energy or allegorical position (Scorpia, for example) where the voice casting gap becomes conspicuous

tbh a lot of the queerwave cartoons give me the VERY firm impression, frequently, that they think the more mysterious your gender is or the more gnc cis boy you are, the better and that suggesting they add a transfem would be a downgrade in their eyes. It's frustrating

Also, this "discourse" really shows how much people devalue and dehumanize trans women if we offer the SLIGHTEST CRITICISM.
And it's ESPECIALLY infuriating that this is most likely from people who only care about queer issues because of queerwave media like TOH, which don't have great track-

Iiiinteresting, I should really catch up. I liked Adventure Time a lot and I tend to consider Bubbeline to be more important (to me) than some of the later queerwave stuff so I've been meaning to catch up on this new stuff

there is a rather strong contingent of folks out there who think the Queerwave cartoons are the peak of queerness, that anime is only shonenslop and thus can't be gay, that china also can't be gay, and so on

yeah this is where I'm at. If there's any animated show that I thought looked generally good it was kind of Adventure Time because it really felt like a cartoon that embraced what it was, but the Queerwave stuff often feels like it's trying to be anime more often than not and falling short there
