After having thought about it too much (likely more than the writer) I've decided where Transformers Awakening fits in: it's what it looked like from the inside when the Quintessons were brainwashing Prime in Dark Awakening. That's why he's being pushed to go against his true nature and desires.

Saw Transformers: The Movie in the cinema last night and yeah, of course it was brilliant. Little to be said that hasn't been already but what a film. Pacing is insane, just one mental scene after another. And the designs! The Quintesson corkscrew space ship is a thing of beauty.

The Quintesson ship landing on Junk was something, too. Someone clearly enjoyed drawing that, with all its curves and shadows, and the art direction and score really work in that scene.
