I snapped this shot of Birgit when riding backroads through Portugal.
That's her 1984 R80ST. I grinned when she said, after finding that the brakes on her '72 BMW R60/5 were struggling with the pace of traffic in the UK, that she'd like a 'new' bike.

I rode Stelvio on a BMW R80ST. In 1987, it was the perfect tool for the job. Just enough power, excellent throttle response, and 381 pounds. Today, I'd want to run it on either my 88 NT650 Hawk GT or second choice 09 Triumph Street Triple R
