Invasive alien plants are a major cause of biodiversity loss. Their removal is often seen as the first step toward restoration, but recovery doesn’t always follow. 🌿 At #RAE2025 I presented our work on understanding legacy effects left behind even after invaders are gone.

We had a very successful discussion table at #RAE2025, on the challenges and opportunities of managing invasive plants (and not only). With representatives from Argentina (Priscila Powell), Chile (Rafael Garcia), and Uruguay (Carolina Toranza). Silvia Ziller also sharing her experience online.

Lessons, obstacles & cross-border collaboration ahead! #RAE2025

During the round table we organized with Gisela Stolz (Universidad Andrés Bello) and Monica Ortiz (Universidad de Concepción) at #RAE2025 we discussed building an ecological practice grounded in values and responsibilities.

This monitoring plan allows for checking if the mining company is actually complying with the restoration of their damage and giving the power of knowledge and control during the plan #rae2025

David found that high density of vineyards makes fungi communities more susceptible to changes in temperatures. Also, at higher densities of vineyards, % cover of vineyards leads to a reduction of fungi diversity. #rae2025

Tomas Ibarra talking about socioecological networks, what are the actors involved, & the drivers of change. Interesting to think about how biomemory is saved in actors within these networks on actors that can be human but also trees (e.g. the pehuen) and how social changes can disrupt this. #rae2025
