They’re for for general reporting purposes, as in how we get figures like 30% of applicants are black but only 5% were accepted or this hospital with 80% black patients received half the funding of the hospital with 10% black.

"I don't see color" is a racist thing to say. It denies an important reality of the person you're intentionaly not seeing all of. It doesn't recognize their lived experience of being subjected to systemic raicism throughout their life. And it's not true. Of course you see it.
