Like the Wolfhound, the Mauler had some different coloring between the series, the toys and the cards. The Mauler was much less impressive on screen, but I still liked it.

And here is the modern version of yesterday's #FirstSomersetStrikers Awesome. Some designs are so classic, they need little updating.

So, not only did CGL take some liberties with the canon paint scheme of Ciro's Wolfhound, but they also straight-uo changed the variant itself. Zero respect for the guy.

CGL definitely retconned Ciro's Wolfhound, because this is what it looked like on screen...not the tan/green camo on the modern card.

Back to my #FirstSomersetStrikers project. As mentioned in the past, I'm doing two sets - one classic metal, and one modern.

I love the canon pattern on this Awesome from the show.

As threatened: Sir Foreski.... err, Sir Forscale (#reaperminis) with the kobold (#ralpartha)

#miniaturepainting #scalecomparison #miniaturecollecting
Painted miniatures of Sir Forscale and an AD&D kobold, together for a scale comparison. Sir Forscale wears full armor and a tabard, holding a sword and shield ready. The kobold is in a short tunic, holding a spear and shield. The top of the kobold's head comes up to the level of the knight's waist.

Curses..
When I moved out in the early 90s I binned a couple of thousand minis. Citadel, RalPartha and Grenadier on the whole. Probably some proper classics.
C'est la vie.

Kobold, AD&D monster from #ralpartha

Although in 1:56(ish) scale, this little guy is only about 18mm to the top of his head. I should add a picture with Sir Forscale some time...

Here is perhaps the rarest wargame ephemera I own. It is a Growler ring, made by Ral Partha (presumably.) I won first place in a Vor: the Maelstrom tournament at DragonCon 98 or 99, and it was part of the prize package.

I forget what army I played. Proooobably Neo-Soviets.

A pewter ring with a face on it. The face is that of a Growler, an ape-like alien from the Tabletop Wargame Vor: the Maelstrom. It is unpainted.

King of the Bards, from #ralpartha

Very clearly Elvis-coded, which is why I chose a paint scheme that would lean away from that.

#miniaturepainting #miniaturecollecting #bard
Painted miniature of the King of the Bards, an Elvis-inspired fantasy mini. His ensemble consists of a tight shirt open to the waist with puffed sleeves, fold-top boots over tight pants, and a high-collared waist-length cape. He holds a guitar-like stringed instrument by the neck in his left hand, with the body of the instrument resting against his waist. Right hand is raised in a sort of "come here" gesture". Front view.
