It occurs to me that they all sound like they could be places from The Lord of the Rings.

Hi @rotherhamcouncil.bsky.social Have bin men gone on strike in Rawmarsh? They haven't collected Pink bins today, neighbours have been waiting 3 weeks for black bin to be collected, and before that green was missed and waited two weeks and still only one collected and missed another . . .

Now that Healey is Chancellor, I wonder how long it will take journalists to learn how to pronounce Rawmarsh properly

I'm a White British Anglican woman from Rawmarsh and Conisbrough, in my fifties. My top issue is the environment. In 2024 I voted Labour. Today I still would.

What a thing to say! Draw a line between Matlock and Rawmarsh.

"Member of Parliament for Rawmarsh and Conisbrough". That sounds made up...

My stepdad grew up in Rawmarsh and we visited often when I was a kid. Wentworth Woodhouse fascinated me.

For many children of Rawmarsh, like Natasha and myself, it has only been the experience of having more choice, more money and different influences that changed our diets…

not the diminishing of options, not being branded as one of the ‘fat stupid children’ … not being locked behind school gates.

I think that none of us would be able to deny that John Healey (born 13 February 1960) is a British politician. He previously served as Secretary of State for Defence from 2024 to 2026. A member of the Labour Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rawmarsh and Conisbrough, formerly Wen

We ought to do a cemetery writing workshop Glenn. Your pic looks great. There’s one near me in Rawmarsh. Let’s make it happen.

⬇️ It only makes sense as an electoral strategy if the unstated objective is to defend only a handful of seats at the GE: Makerfield, Sheffield Heeley, Manchester Central, Ashton under Lyne, Rawmarsh and Conisbrough, Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley, Wigan…….
Wise, wise words. The tik tok nonsense about bar snacks, Woolworths pick n mix and Greggs will not appeal to the educated middle-class who are the core Labour vote now, or to southerners. And Labour can’t win a General Election without them.
Reform voters aren't interested in the issues, they just want the people they hate to be miserable.
Labour needs to stop trying to win their votes. They can't be reached.

Here's an old photo I found when digging in some sub-folders on the PC. It's me cutting the grass at Rawmarsh Welfare Football Club. Must have been early Sixtes. Gordon Banks played for the club when he was 16, and they dissolved in the 1980s.

And in Sheffield, "Rawmarsh M Men were recently registered with Sheffield and Hallamshire Counties' Football association," the second-oldest football governing body in the world.

Issue 2 of @vittles.bsky.social print magazine on Bad Food was an amazing collection of thought provoking food writing. This, reviewing the moral panic about parents' and childrens' rebellion against a Rotherham school ban on "fast food" is on that theme.

Turns out nothing could’ve prepared me for gigging in Rawmarsh.
So, watching Beaches for the first time might not have been the best preparation for doing a comedy gig tonight.
