#readersblock
Anyways i’m calling it #ReadersBlock, and though it’s terribly frustrating, i want folx to know that it’s nothing they are doing wrong. And that it can get better. ❤️‍🩹

I’m seeing so much burnout in our community that it is literally staggering. So much executive dysfunction. One of the most common and most deeply upsetting issues is reading. You’ve heard of writers block? Yeah, we’re getting #ReadersBlock. We can’t read books anymore, and we can’t figure out why 😣

So true. My whole life, books have been like friends.

Now there’s a phenomenon happening amongst neurodivergents, called #ExecutiveDysfunction. You’ve heard of #WritersBlock? We’re getting #ReadersBlock. We’re so overwhelmed by society right now that we can’t manage to focus on reading. It’s awful

Just published an article about WritersBLOCK/ReadersBLOCK, written with the project's instigator, Dr Lucy Christopher @utas.edu.au - it's here @aunz.theconversation.com

Participating in Dr Lucy Christopher's WritersBLOCK/ReadersBLOCK project tomorrow...

📖

... spending two undisturbed hours reading Tasmanian literature in a glass fronted block in Salamanca Square, Hobart, while a Tasmanian writes in the block alongside...

📝

...hope it's as idyllic as it sounds!

WritersBLOCK/ReadersBLOCK started today: highly recommended.

📖

Two hours of reading Adam Ouston's 'Waypoints' passed in minutes; conscious of focused, creative work being done by Dr Lucy Christopher next door.

📝

Hopefully normalising focused literary engagement; clearly new for some passersby!

I finished The Lords of Discipline yesterday. It’s a good book, but it’s remarkable for me because it’s the first work of fiction i have read cover-to-cover in almost 10 years

Unfortunately #ReadersBlock sadly hit me again...
It's prolly cause I'm #dyslexic and SLOW. Every time I'm like 5 or 10 pages into a book, my brain's like "But what if one of the others is better?" Which becomes an obsessive thought and I can't focus on my book anymore

I want to reignite my passion for reading. School literally killed my passion for reading, and it never recovered. How does one rekindle love for reading? I hate seeing reading as a chore. I hate that reading for fun is foreign to me now.

The real impact is on the ground, but still nice to see which lamentable pun (h/t @seanmicallef.bsky.social) the WritersBLOCK/ReadersBLOCK project would inspire in the local press...

Saw the #trailer for #TheRunningMan thought that title sounded familiar and REALIZED that's #StephenKing .
One I haven't read yet. It's from #thebachmanbooks
Let this read be THE read that BREAKS my everlasting #ReadersBlock.
I miss reading SO. MUCH.
