Currently reading The Secret History by Procopius, an unpublished work by famed Roman historian written around 550AD. He claims it is the complete, uncensored, absolute truth, that the Elites don't want you to hear.

A non exhaustive list of things he has complained about

A huge outcome for a powerful body where hardline conservatives have long held sway.

First thing after election day, this is on my reading list.
Former Trump lawyer John Eastman is asking the Supreme Court to restore his law license, which was revoked for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Scott Cummings on why a ruling in Eastman's favor would strike a blow against "one of the few democratic bulwarks still standing."
John Eastman’s Most Dangerous Supreme Court Case Yet
A ruling restoring Eastman's law license after it was revoked for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election would weaken the rule of law.

When sending letters to your reps, consider putting a bullet list of demands. This just makes it extremely clear what you are asking for and the person reading the letter can more easily pass that on.

Overstimulated and doom scrolling about the U.S. midterm elections?

It's very unlikely your reading about the chaos will change the outcome at this point, so give your nervous system a break!

Try my hack: pick a list that interests you and read until you sleep

This is out now and is on my Reading List. I absolutely love Karen Lord's work.
Arriving next week! THE ANGEL AT THE GATES, my latest novel, about trauma, hospitality, sanctuary, and our duty to keep striving to heal and atone. Described by my fave preteen reviewer as ‘beautiful and horrible’ but she loved it regardless. Order it now!

BTW if you're a SFWA member, you can access a review copy of Ex Partum on the Recommended Reading List.

Obviously I wish that Emma could get MONEY for her hard work, but I do think it's a novella worth considering as you do your awards reading for 2026.

Seriously considering putting Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" on the recommended reading list for "Eat God" just to be extra annoying.

I guess I need a stronger magnification strength on my reading glasses because this list appears to contain only one (1) North American, and hardly any players based in NWSL, the most brutally competitive woso league in the world?

That seems impossible tho, such a list would be profoundly unserious
