Chewing on this a bit, yeah, it was annoying especially pre-reallignment where they would all be on the same weekend and it keeping up with it all was difficult, so some standalone nights is nice, before some of the big weekend games that will take up the focus.

its also hard to define the variables.. like if a competent statesman had been handed what trump had in 2024 it could have looked like 1981 in terms of reallignment. but if trump were a competent statesman he'd be an entirely different person

That is I expect that since there is so many small and medium companies with some becoming profitable at that level but others just not there will end up being more of a reallignment arojnd those just in a way distinct to the ecosysrem of larger corps

But also incredible, he seems to authentically believe, that focus on internal issues of GB is enough for this Labour government. Whereas reallignment with EU can still be treated as an optional after thought. My god what a fool.

once in a while i make a sort of 'spiritual' reallignment in myself by listening to all of my old music from 2015-2019 without any sort of negative feeling or anything clouding the experience. just taking it all in again. keeping myself humble

i think a reallignment will eventually happen but until it does (or we force it?), things are going to be descending into the abyss on a semi regular cadence

democrats may win a 2008 level victory in the next presidential election, i think they will, but they will lose either the next election or the election after that (and so on) and every successive GoP admin is going to get more insane until we have a real political reallignment

Reallignment is basically a bare-minimum strategy and I'm sour on that for different reasons. Bernie 3.0 with AOC or some other candidate is premised on a Party and larger country that is about as Democratic as Russia when it comes to implimenting any kind of systemic wealth distribution

Trump is the embodiment of a certain id that has existed in the party (and dems before reallignment). But just look at the Republicans who have left and are repulsed and actively fought him with more vigor than much of the left. Look at the many ways he is a repudiation of what the party was.

I think this is an opinion that has been locked in with generation x - who arguably came into awareness in one of the few eras where it was arguably truer (middle of southern reallignment)

I tend to agree. It occurs to me, the last large partisian reallignment was southern Democrats switching to the GOP. If you're a Democrat older than 40, then you have memories of those party switchers and those wounds have never healed. We are predisposed to not trust "party switchers"
