Please clap: was able to disassemble the kid's Switch 2 down to removing the motherboard (not easy! iFixit score on this thing is... 3?) in an attempt to fix a broken USB port, and everything worked exactly the same on reassembly! The bad news, the port failure isn't mechanical, so still no go :(
