Scientists reviving dead reefs with underwater speakers have succeeded—fish are showing up and helping bring ecosystems back to life.
Scientists hoped to revive dead reefs by putting speakers underwater. Then the fish showed up.

These giants are standing tall against fossil fuels.
Rising out of the ocean like a middle finger to CO2.
Deep beneath the waves they can become artificial reefs creating habitats for sea life to grow.

We know the usual direction. The forest becomes a clearing. Glaciers retreats. Reefs lose their color. “Before” holds abundance; “after” records what's been lost.

Here, “after” means recovery. @oceanhoptimism.org looks at powerful new coral recovery research: therevelator.org/when-after-m...

Although local actions cannot deal with the warming waters caused by global greenhouse gas emissions, experts say reducing fishing pressure, cleaning up water, and supporting reefs via projects can help coral reefs cope.

Sea muppets are a newly described genus of seahorse-like fish from deep reefs off Australia's southern coast. Three species sat mislabeled in a museum collection for decades before being identified as this lost branch of the Syngnathidae family tree! 🧪

If the current RBA was steering a ship it would hit the rocks, docks & reefs every time, leaving the boat wrecked.

Still needs further reform.

Researchers at Stanford have discovered a method of healing bleached corals in just 7 weeks!

Through contact with a genetically identical healthy coral fragment previously bleached corals were able to return to a healthy state in record time!

While limited now this could save reefs in the future!
