Me, a guy who has read/watched/engaged with a wide variety of fantasy media over the years and has a diverse dirth of refrences to pull from in terms of mood/tone/ and style everytime without fail:
"I want this part of the story to feel like Neopets: The Darkest Fairie"
"I want this part of the story to feel like Neopets: The Darkest Fairie"

I have an entire thread where i paste things in and say "go find out if this is real or not, and give me the refrences so i can double check you"
And once or twice it's asked me if i was joking.

Gobtober 2026 Day 2! Dinosaur! Swizelle gets herself another new outfit insired by the Greymon Pajamas in Digimon Up. If you thought there would be no Digimon refrences in this return to Gobtober...That was a foolish miscalulation!

Hmmm
I was thinking about maybe doing a big thread with all of my human OC ref sheets
I have posted them sporadically before but not all of them
It might be nice to have them all in one place for easy refrences…
Hmmm
Thoughts?

I've recently lacked the motivation to just draw from refrences for practice in addition to having no idea what I should draw on my own while wanting to do so. So this is what I ended up with. Not very glorious but i definetly wanted to do coloring as well as try out cell shading, so i did.

It is what i would expect from someone more educated though i think a longer version would probabily include refrences to overily technical phrases like embed in another agent as a way to substitute for anthromorphizing

It goes to show just how many refrences they must need to work.
They totally fall down with dinosaurs, every time. They can't do modern ones, they can't do retro ones, they can only do a mid-90's Jurassic Park-y toy.

🧵- Some of the novelties from the mid century!
This is before we start looking at television and computer electronics
Interesting tid bit about the barradio is that radio parts were directly under the ice tray, making this novelty cool but not very useful 😅

@wcwit.bsky.social I have barely made it out of the credits, and amount of thoughtful, well designed refrences is blowing my mind. Then i get hit with Kevin McDonald!
