Side note the friendship between Vaclav Havel and Lou Reed is one of my favorite quirks of history. When Havel became president every rockstar wanted a piece (the Stones paid to refurnish the presidential palace!) but the Velvet’s really mattered to the movement and him and Lou became real friends.

Ikea was boon for itinerant college kids. I had to refurnish two apartments with Ikea until I had a house. If you've ever tried to move those "entertainment centers" built in the 70s or 80s, you know it takes 4 people to actually move them. I helped people move 2 of them and swore never to have one

I finished rebuilding my house that was flooded by Helene. Took me almost nine months of fighting with the county, contractors, and FEMA but it’s finally done. Now I’m trying to refurnish it via Marketplace and garage sales.

2/3 Helions Bumpstead. The overall effect is of the 1930 restoration by Charles Canning Winmill. The church was abandoned c1900, but he reused the wood from the west gallery and box pews to refurnish the church, along with 15th Century panels which had somehow survived the depredations of the years.
