American Gothic is a 1930 oil painting by American Regionalist artist Grant Wood. One of Wood’s earliest biographers noted that Wood frequently pleaded for others to “not make gore of his OCs” or “ship them with other characters”

I think the funniest of all the braindead replies are the ones attacking him for being a fat cat "CEO" when he's the CEO of a regionalist think tank in Arkansas

Don’t want to sound regionalist or anything but Paddy McGuinness’ voice on the radio makes me want to vomit until I faint.

This has absolutely nothing to do with my extreme regionalist bias in favor of Jeolla, where, incidentally, I did get the sense that local restaurants weren't lowkey bothered by foreigners and even seemed kind of into the idea of foreigners bringing tourism dollars into their economy

Constituents to Chuck Grassley: "Are you bringing back that guy from El Salvador?"

Senior Citizen: “If I get an order to pay a ticket to pay $1200 and I just say ‘no’, does that stand up? Because he just got an order from the Supreme Court and he just said ‘screw it’”

The New Deal era promoted Regionalist and American Scene painting that celebrated everyday landscapes. White River at Sharon (1937) shows how Hopper rejected the trend, choosing to maintain his signature spareness and detachment.

Calling Plaid and the SNP “regionalist” is such a London brained moment, no wonder independence constantly polls ~50%
Lessons
1. Labour’s core vote is smaller than I thought
2. Regionalism is strong (Plaid, SNP, Andy Burnham)
2/4

In Scotland and especially in Wales it's obvious a lot of people vote for the 'nationalist' parties because they want a regionalist autonomy party to represent their distinct interests, but not actual independence.

1931 Etterbeek apartment block in a cottagey regionalist art deco. The region is immaterial.

2018. there is a debate at SNP Students conference about whether the party should remain affiliated to the European Free Alliance, the European party (for Americans these are like pan-European confederations of political parties with similar aims) for regionalist and separatist movements.

Thanks for the excellent talk!
