Ukraine’s OBRIA NANO test satellite is operating in orbit. Built by Denmark’s GomSpace for HIMERA, it is a first step towards a Ukrainian-controlled communications network to reduce reliance on Starlink.

If I could simplify this thread, the tldr: securitization and invulnerability depend heavily on eliminating the connection, trust relationships, mutual reliance that make things more efficient.

That makes total sense.

The reliance on AI explains this quite a lot now I think!
#nzpol This snippet with quotes from Amanda Luxon from Luke Malpass's at times fawning profile of Luxon in Sunday's Star-Times is very revealing "...one of the top CEOs in the world coming in and fixing a country that's almost bankrupt...The knowledge that he lacked in politics is easy to acquire"🙄

Our continuing reliance on the genocidal monster Elon Musk’s tools also really destroys a lot of US arguments about how we must be mindful about whose hardware and software we’re relying on.

(We SHOULD be, to be clear. And the argument is worthless as piss until Elon Musk is ruined and prosecuted).
You can sidle up to an argument that we should be cautious about embedding Chinese hardware / software in essential infrastructure (though, um, Starlink anyone?) but as an individual I am much more afraid of Google than I am of HUAWEI.

Unfortunately this reliance on AI appears to already be having serious policy implications: bsky.app/profile/cono...
'Plausible looking output full of errors and hollow implementation might describe Federal policy at large, so much that one wonders if gov. decisions are being generated by ChatGPT.'

I wrote that in a newsletter TODAY: secure.sierraclub.ca/civicrm/mail...

Turns out that's likely the case. #CDNpoli
