The unusual proportions of the Clio V6 made it hard to miss on the road. The early TWR versions (1555 built) had a 230bhp engine; a later Phase 2 model, built by Renaultsport in Dieppe from 2003, had 252bhp. There was also a racing circuit-only version, the Clio V6 Trophy.

(2) I definitely did not know that a one-off prototype with non-production parts and Renaultsport Spider seats was gifted to Tom Walkinshaw himself, and on that note:

The brochure called the 2-litre 150bhp model, capable of 133mph, as 'far and away the most powerful car in its class', hailing 'near-competition standards of roadholding combined with on-road comfort akin to that of the 16V Clio'. The model was built by RenaultSport.

As well as the 3-door body there were also 5-door RenaultSport variants of the Mégane, with the most powerful being the 225 Lux, said to offer 'mind-blowing performance' plus luxury. The sporting range had also embraced diesel with the DCI 175, offered with both bodystyles.
