Unfortunately, I can’t work out how to find the post that you replied to so I’ll answer your question as it sits. In my experience intellectual understanding is helpful when it comes to self awareness and agency. But change itself becomes manageable when you use a somatic based reparenting approach.

For those who are sheltered from the harms of "the streets" there's a lack of awareness of the constant parentification and "reparenting" one has to do to survive "out there"
Paternalism is extremely self sabotaging to individuals that "don't fit" into toxic masculinity models. (Primary disabled ppls and ppl perceived as "runts of the litter)
ppl that hate "self diagnosis" because they claim ppl are lying to cheat a system really are just legitimizers of paternalism as a concept.
