Wyoming H5N1 bird flu case uploads to GISAID

—PB2 E627K mutation detected

Partial sequence from a Wyoming patient confirms H5N1 D1.1 genotype with PB2 E627K

It’s a key adaptation for mammalian replication.

That's just an anecdote. We need replication in order to draw solid inferences. Drop many millionaires/ billionaires on cannibal-occupied islands. @atticusgf.bsky.social

Too often, I see people talk about a replication as if the first study has established something, and the replication study is a double-check. What people often fail to understand is that we do not do replication studies to *check* a finding, but to *establish* a finding. 1/x

remembering that one economist who straight up put do_fraud() in his stata replication file.
One of the craziest things that has become apparent to me as I’ve gotten older is people are just putting “hello yes would you like to do crimes? Here is my plan to do crimes, let us join together to do the crimes at this specific time and place” in emails

I think everything we thing of as “science” (the scientific method, replication, peer review, etc etc) is emergent of one single thing. What do you think that is?

Amazing that a man who lies so often that his every word is suspect has the audacity to attack fields working to improve their replication rates, when the success rate of these fields (40-60% replication rates for biology) still dwarfs that of even the most honest of politicians.

Some of y’all don’t know the difference between replication and reproduction in science and that shit makes life hell for those of us who do.

Now out in Nature! We visualize infection of the RNA virus RSV in real-time with single-vRNP resolution to understand how RSV establishes viral factories, biomolecular condensates that act as sites of viral replication. A huge collaborative effort led by Dhanushika Ratnayake!

Pre-assembly of biomolecular condensate seeds drives RSV replication
Nature - Viral ribonucleoprotein–viral protein networks form pre-replication centres that nucleate viral factories and drive respiratory syncytial virus replication.

Also, not being weird, the main issue in tech with the term “master” was in database replication where they literally had “master/slave” replication, which is straight down the line using the language of human oppression. Meanwhile git moved from “master” branches to “main”. That’s literally it.
