Within Recovery Mode, the Terminal can be accessed from the Utilities menu, and the resetpassword command can be used to follow prompts and set a new password.

The wrong way is to store confirmation_token, reset_password_token and session_token in the users table. In fact, that should be 3 distinct models: User::Confirmation, User::ResetPassword and User::Session.

That's great. In that case, changing your password would have the intended effect and not let you refresh your token again.
Just to be clear, you talk about the ResetPassword logic specifically. Changing your password in the account settings has the same effect?

I also found my grandfather's old Mac Mini and got it to start up. Unfortunately I hit a roadblock because Pop pop never wiped his password before it was given to me.
