install retrobat which comes with multiple options for emulators for most systems and just don't use any of the libretro cores, this way you still have a library

There is a gamelist manager that now supports ES-DE!
It allows you to edit metadata in a very user friendly way and allows you to browse a game and see all its media files and even see what missing and download them.

retrobat is good, I also like launchbox. They both allow you to avoid retroarch-affiliated emulators.
