Remembering FOR NO REASON AT ALL today, News Quiz writers rooms where it was always impressed upon us that we had to be as sure as possible that information on the stories we covered were verifiable as 'there will be people who get all their news from our little teatime panel show'

We're rewatching old episodes of "Rex the Runt". Very funny, but also, as I didn't realise in the 90s, a manifest reversioning of "Hancock's Half Hour", only with plasticine dogs.

I set out on my own to meet you as arranged, but someone dogs me through the silent darkness — who? I try to shake him off, but cannot lose him. His swagger sends up dust in clouds, and when I speak he adds his strident voice to mine. He is my little self, my shameless master — but I am too ashamed to have him with me at your door.

secretly unseen unheard you walk in rain-drenched shadows one July the east wind’s clamour fails to open dawn’s bright eyes a heavy veil’s been drawn across the sleepless azure skies in the wood the birds have fallen quiet in the street each door is fastened tight you walk alone look here, my only friend look here, my best beloved look where I’ve opened wide my gates don’t pass me by don’t draw aside as if you’d been a dream

Beautiful your bracelet gold with coloured stars of artfully set jewels. But how much more I marvel at your scimitar an arc of lightning like the span of the Garuda bird its wings outstretched against the blood-red setting sun. It trembles like the moment before death when life responds to pain’s awakening it shimmers like the pure flame of being that incinerates the sense of self in just one coruscating instant Beautiful your bracelet set with starry jewels, but how much more I marvel, god of thunder, at the dreadful unintelligible beauty of your scimitar.

After not finding the time for ages, I started playing Metaphor: ReFantazio yesterday evening. As someone who generally doesn't get on with the tropes and tone of high fantasy media (nor it's edgy dark fantasy reversioning);

YES. YES GOOD. MMHM, VERY NICE. Shoji Meguro smooths all trepidations.

Okay, until the Dragon Boxes I accepted I had to put up with American DBZ releases having home video menus filled with atonal butt rock. That fit the tone their reversioning was going for. But why in Dende's name is it still being used in the Blu-ray menus for Dragon Ball Super??? 😭

When it’s time for me to leave, my parting words will be that what I’ve seen could never be surpassed. For I have had upon my tongue the hidden honey of the lotus swelling on the shining sea — and so my parting words will be that I’ve been blessed. I’ve played my part here on this stage of countless forms, and caught a fleeting glimpse of one who’s formless. The touch of the intangible has effervesced my whole anatomy — and so my parting words will be that if the end is to be here, I gladly acquiesce.

Now I’m about to take my leave, so wish me luck, my friends! The dawn has turned the sky to rose, and stretching out before me wends my path in beauty. Don’t ask what I’ll take along to help me reach my destination; I am setting out with nothing in my hand and heart but expectation. Not for me the russet drab of travellers; around my neck I’ll wear my wedding garland, and whatever dangers lurk along my way I’ll feel no fear. And at my journey’s end the evening star will rise, and from the gateway of the King the plaintive melodies of dusk will fill the darkening skies.

I am filled with myriad desires I whine and beg for their fulfilment but you save me from myself with stern refusals, and my life is moulded by your mercy. You are slowly leading me to merit your unasked-for gifts – sky, light, body, life, and mind – and from the dangers of too much desire you rescue me. I am inclined to laziness, procrastination; sometimes, though, I leap up from my bed to follow you, but you are cruel and hide from me. You are slowly leading me to merit union with you by constantly refusing me, and from the dangers of half-willed desire you rescue me.

I read a lot of translations, and as many alternative translations as I can.

Lorna Goodison has reversioned Dante's Inferno and set it in Jamaica.

Can hardly wait to read this.

This doesn't even qualify as a non-apology apology. It's just Trumpian bullshit. A self-serving reversioning of reality.

Infantino should be history. But this is Fifa. Expect him to try something similar after he gets re-elected next year.

Published by Inside FIFA. The official corporate and administrative arm of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) "Statement attributable to the FIFA President The FIFA Forward Enterprise project was intended to provide a basis for further strengthening our FIFA Member Associations and our sport worldwide, especially in those countries where support is most needed. And more so, as we said from the outset, to do this only if a majority of the FIFA Member Associations were in support and always subject to a consultation process with them, the FIFA Council, the Confederations and wider stakeholders. Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place. Our purpose has always been - and will always be - to unite and improve. As a result, this proposal will not proceed. Moving forward, my intent is to bring all interested parties back together in the coming days and weeks in the spirit of shared interest in our game, and with the objective to continue growing football everywhere, particularly in those countries that mostly need our support."
