Does reward positivity (RewP), as measured with EEG, reflect value?
Shaffer et al. use an elegant reinforcer devaluation paradigm to show that RewP is not affected by desensitization despite behavioral changes indicative of changes in value #neuroskyence

Had a great time today presenting data from the CoScience project at the #SPR2025 meeting @therealspr.bsky.social examining potential RewP blunting in subclinical depressive symptoms @anjariesel.bsky.social

Kicking off an interesting symposium on sleep and physiology: Emily Cardenas shared fascinating work on the peripartum period, showing that in women with a more reduced reward response (RewP) sleep problems were more strongly linked to depressive symptoms 💤 #2025SPR

A fun birthday presentation on the RewP compared between perceived control contexts. Thanks to @maclab-brain.bsky.social for their support during this project and everyone who showed up to the @tamu.bsky.social URS symposium!

I love RewP! It’s the main focus of my dissertation! If you’re looking at RewP, then I suggest looking at P2, N2, & P3 because you need a P2-N2-P3 complex in order to get RewP. Perceived novelty & the amount of informational content can also modulate RewP + affect N2 & P3 respectively.

Happy to send relevant papers & chat RewP. I also just chaired a RewP symposium at SPR, so a lot of discussions from that are still fresh on my mind. IMO one thing to consider is how to quantify RewP. Can elaborate more.

Hannes Carsten conducted a forking paths analysis to examine the impact of analytical decisions on the association of depressive symptomatology and the RewP! Results were highly sensitive to analytical decisions. Great work! #2025SPR @therealspr.bsky.social

Excited to share my first 1st & corresponding author preprint!

Here, I examine an EEG component, the Reward Positivity (RewP), during inference-based decision-making w/Holly Crowder, Peter Kakalec, Lam Duong, Craig McDonald, & Jim Thompson.

James Cavanagh describes challenges in quantifying RewP, including its sensitivity to benign tasks characteristics - he suggests conceptualizing RewP as an outcome of several intersecting systems that can be shifted by task demands & affective influences @therealspr.bsky.social #2024SPR

Only thing for sure is RewP so far, but that's largely based on the reward stressor I'm using. Have to up my knowledge about the other metrics I could register...

Dr. CJ Brush gave a great talk finding that giving participants with depressive symptomatology the autonomy to choose a preferred exercise intensity resulted in increased incentive salience (cue-P3) and a larger initial response to the reward (RewP)! #2025SPR

Name is not pronounced ”Rewp” or ”Rope”, but /ˈroːpe/ with an aggressively rolled R. It’s a Finnish shorthand for Robert. I suppose that makes me Bob. Which is fitting, because like that other Bob I also play folk music. I also kayak and take part in running a kayaking club on the island I live on.
