wish us luck tomorrow. really hoping whatever this thing is comes off easily and also finally gets identified. Absolutely no one has any real idea what it could be.
A cute brown rat with a rexoid coat. She has a mystery tumor on the right side of her neck and a large pocket of fluid on her back. The same rat, just three days later. Both the tumor and the fluid pocket are much larger now. The tumor is has begun pressing into the back of her ear.

somehow, both pictures are of the same rat. Her name is Hickory; her birthday is March 15th of 2023. She was sold to me as a cinnamon blaze rexoid, but she didn't stay that way lol

why did this happen? I've never seen this before.

A young light brown rat with red eyes and white markings. She has a white blaze on her face. She's on a red blanket, and being petted. The same rat, two years later, on the same blanket, being held. She is nearly completely white now, the blaze on her face only hinted at by a few darker hairs on her forehead. You would never guess this rat was originally a light brown.

Three fluffy baby rexoid dumbo rats in various shades of gray and brown all curiously sniffing a human hand that's being held out to them while perched at the edge of their cage's door.

Toffee’s babies update! One week old. Their coloring is starting to come in, and there’s some pretty Silvermanes just like we’d hoped. One baby even has rexoid curly whiskers!

i cleaned their cage and gave them fresh nesting materials and instead of piling it in the box i gave them down at the bottom of their cage, they piled it on the highest shelf. so now i get to enjoy seeing things like this lmao i love them so much, they're so cute

A top down photo of six pet rats snuggled up and sleeping in a colorful pile. There is a dumbo eared varigated russian blue, a dumbo eared russian blue double velveteen agouti, a standard eared velveteen fawn, a dumbo black, a standard eared rexoid cinnamon roan (who has faded in color so much over time that she is just a pale, warm gray at most now), and a dumbo eared rexoid marten.
