Narok woke to darkness. It took a few seconds for his eyes to adjust. He leaned against a stone wall while grit dug into his feet and legs. Pain lanced through his skull, but when he tried to rub at his face, his wrists caught and metal jangled. Ah. He was chained to the floor.

“I could tell she’s been keeping secrets from me since the autumn equinox,” Inana admitted, “but everything she said tonight…that felt real.” My stomach began to ache, like I might throw up. “Why does she hate me so much? What did I ever do to her?” Inana exhaled briefly through her nose, and she mulled over her next words carefully. “I think…she’s jealous of you for being a Wilder.” I blinked. Was it really…that simple? “There’s nothing great about being a Wilder.” “Which proves the point. You don’t realize how lucky you are, so you take the magic for granted.”

Rakara pov today. Her relationship w/ her cousin, Inana, is one of my favorites.
I jerked my head up as Inana, my cousin, trotted towards me. She had to scramble over the rocky path, huffing in exasperation. Her wheat colored hair was askew, half of it falling out of its twin tails. She was also covered in mud—or shit—from her paws to her waist. A dark brown smudge snaked across her left cheek. I winced. “Where have /you/ been?”

I am getting to the point of the draft where I'm like I JUST WANNA BE DONE so I'm noticing I'm trying to cut corners....i dont want to do this but omfg im tired #roanwrites

Raslumé turned Narok’s head from side to side, checking for cranial injuries. Then he observed Narok’s mouth, his tongue and pointed teeth. “I told you I fixed him,” Hatasia snarled. She still wore the armor from earlier while Raslumé adorned his form in silken red, gold, and ivory layers.

Emeric tapped his pipe against the stone wall, emptying it of ash. “You’re late.” “Something happened.” At Emeric’s questioning look, [Narok] relayed the story, mentioning Kasandra’s involvement and glossing over the details of killing the boy. His voice wavered at that part, and he cleared his throat to hide it. Emeric, of course, missed nothing. “He was infected. It was a kindness.”
