Insane levels of amazing today with two incredible Fire-tipped Sea Slugs Hermaea variopicta at Wembury, Devon today. Huge thanks to @jacob-wood.bsky.social and his rockpooling family for their kind help 🙏. A great end to a birthday trip away 🙂. I need an underwater camera now 😅

Insane levels of amazing today with two incredible Fire-tipped Sea Slugs Hermaea variopicta at Wembury, Devon today. Huge thanks to @jacob-wood.bsky.social and his rockpooling family for their kind help 🙏. A great end to a birthday trip away 🙂. I need an underwater camera now 😅
had an amazing time rockpooling at Gylly beach today with @wildweevils.bsky.social, i found a load of blue rayed limpets and judah found both the black squat lobster and two rainbow sea slugs!! we’ve been wanting to see these species for a long time now so it was insane to have seen them!

Still a treasure in this house. I was born in a house by the shore in the little rocky Isle of Man. Rockpooling at 4 & still on the beach 66 years later. I can thank my dad for giving me Steinbeck (& Melville).

I will, thanks Steve 👍 This morning i timed it for when the tide was going out to do some rockpooling but i couldn't see the bottom of the pools for the ripples. The wind's forecast to ease tonight so i'll try again tomorrow.

Another highlight from y'day's Wembury Point rockpooling session, this fabulously blue (& decidedly feisty) Lobster was an ace discovery by @jacob-wood.bsky.social in one of the deeper pools.

We enjoyed some fabulous rockpooling at Wembury Pt y'day, with 4 species of nudibranch encountered (courtesy of @jacob-wood.bsky.social & family), incl'g the tiny Favorinus branchialis; the sponge-like Doris berghi; the vibrantly hefty Gargamella (Discodoris) rosi; & the sublime Calma glaucoides.

The event itself will be in Rottingdean. We will run a Rockpooling session, host talks from some amazing guest speakers and go on a bird walk. To top it all off, we will premiere my next film Counting May.
