The tree to put the roots in context. I shot up close to the rootball, straight on.

The part where the tree roots grow and the trunk starts forming is called the rootball
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?

And the answer is the ore, once assayed proved absolutely exceptional. The amount of fuel you need to smelt iron is basically fixed based on the amount of ore you are working. The higher the amount of iron in that ore, one of the highest ever assayed, and just from a random windfall rootball!

The parts they patched are beautiful -- I saw the video at an exclusive private showing in our back yard. The third section involves what looks to be smithereened pipe with a gigantic rootball in the center.

I hesitate to describe it where @tkingfisher.com might read it, lest it feature in a story.

partial rootball of the giant monstera a chopped a few months ago; this will become the central focal point of my blackwater aquascape---it'll provide an amazing refuge for baby shrimp, and miles of surface area for biofilm to grow.

#Grounded is the theme for #BirdOfTheDay. Here's an eastern phoebe posing on a particularly photogenic stump.

Always a good feeling when you can dig up the entire stump/rootball! 💪 Can't wait to rip out the rest and give this bed some fresh life 🌱

they're gonna have to take out that log and rootball. the tree came down in the ice storm and they just cut off the crown and left the rest, i guess as habitat for animals, and all us hippie neighbors were like "ooh! a nurse log!" but the only wildlife it attracts is smoking teens and firebugs

Yo if you remember the raspberry canes I planted in mid march this is where they are at now.

Floracanes are starting to produce and the new prima canes are starting to come up from the rootball.

Should get some berries this year.

The bane of my garden tidying year. Bastard filthy ferns. They wild seed everywhere and have a rootball that's impossible to dig out. The dentist's waiting room musak of 'ornamental' grasses.
