i hate file locks so much. but illumos and solaris are different OSes to rust (not to LLVM for boring reasons) and illumos does in fact have flock (github.com/rust-lang/ru...) so this is truly "only if you're running solaris"

Rust in agentic workflows sure consumes a lot of disk space, right?

Followup from last week's nextest vuln. Worth carefully paying attention -- please retweet!

When interpreting Cargo arguments across a trust boundary, ALWAYS join flags with their values, e.g. --package=foo, never --package foo.
repeated `-p` without a value lets the next arg be parsed as an option · Issue #17684 · rust-lang/cargo
Problem Cargo command line parsing has a bug that flags like --package accepts zero values. The intent was that so Cargo can provide a dynamic error listing all possible candidates. However, Cargo ...

Goose lang performs really good, count me surprised.
My first ten project Euler solutions in C, Rust, Goose, FORTH, and Factor graphed below. Sorry for having two y-axis scales.
Idfk what the deal is with the bloated Factor VM, I know way less of what I’m doing with that beast.

rustc nightly now has -Zasync-panic. We ran it on the Oct 29 nightly: with =no, a finished async fn returns Pending instead of panicking, and so does one whose body panicked. The tracking issue calls it a lang experiment. https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/164106
