Buenas noches, Rami Hawa Saadieh 👍
¡SALUD! 🏴

Also of note tomorrow in Sweden, Heba Saadieh returns to the pitch for the first time in about a year, as AR2 in AIK-Brommapojkarna. She represents Palestine in AFC/FIFA competitions but has been in Sweden for several years, and in 2023 was the first Palestinian official to referee at a World Cup.

#WAC2026 Final is yestermorrow and here are the refs for it:

Σε μια απόφαση τεράστιου συμβολισμού η AFC όρισε για τον αποψινό τελικό του Ασιατικού Κυπέλλου γυναικών (που έληξε με νικήτρια την Ιαπωνία με σκορ 1-0 κόντρα στην Αυστραλία), ως lineswoman τη Heba Saadieh.Κατάγεται από την Παλαιστίνη, έζησε και σπούδασε στη Συρία, έγινε προσφύγισσα

Women soccer (football) is doing some great stuff on many different levels!

She grew up in a Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus but had to flee when the Syrian civil war broke out (after she had begun to make inroads in the Syrian leagues as the only female referee), and ended up first in Malaysia and then in Sweden. This is in Swedish but has some background on her:

Lizzet García has the curtain-raiser today between Morocco and Brazil. Also of note, Lara Lee’s trio has Heba Saadieh on it, the Sweden-based Palestinian 🇵🇸 assistant referee who has already been to the U20 and senior WWCs. Alyssa Pennington and her team represent PRO and the US.

The Tomb of Saadi, commonly known as Saadieh (Persian: سعدیه), is a tomb and mausoleum dedicated to the Persian poet Saadi in the Iranian city of Shiraz.
