For the 6th day of #InverteFest,
the final glazed result of the Sacoglossa cyerce of a few month ago.
This is nerikomi, color is added to the clay. I was worried about the cover glaze, but it turned out fine (although the holes I had prepared to suspend them got filled)

Let me know if two slugs a day is too much. This sap sucking slug is Thuridilla undula from Anilao in the Philippines. It’s sits in the order of Sacoglossa so is not a Nudibranch, but we don’t that against it. #MarineLife #Invertober #Invertebrates #seaslug

So this little #SeaSlug is a type of sap sucker in the genus Costasiella. These are not technically #Nudibranch and belong in the super order of #Sacoglossa. They perform kleptoplasty where they steal chloroplasts from their Avrainvillea algae host and utilise them for photosynthesis

So how does a snail get two shells?

Larvae start off with a normal-looking coiled shell. They settle on algae. Within a day or two, the shell develops a flap along the growing edge and starts to split into two.

Les Sacoglossa sont des limaces de mer herbivores et hermaphrodites, dotées de capacités inattendues.
Elles ont en effet la capacité de séparer leur tête du reste de leur corps et d'en reconstituer un nouveau à partir de celle-ci lorsque le corps initial est infesté par des parasites 😮.

A sacoglossa slug that is very adorable. Two eyes in the front of its face and antenna things that kind of look like horns, rhinophores. But really they're sent receptors for smelling the sea water. They use kleptoplasty which means they eat chloroplasts from algae that makes them green.

tava vendo um video aqui e lembrei da sua dúvida. essa aqui é a árvore do clado Heterobranchia. Nudibranchia tá á em cima (à direita) e Sacoglossa (superordem da qual pertence a Costasiella kuroshimae) tá em outra divisão +
cladograma com a taxanomia dentro do clado Heterobranquia. Na divisão nudipleura tem as divisões nudibranchia e pluerobranchoidea. Em tectipleura tem diversas subdivisões como: tylodinoidea, Cephalaspidea, Anaspidea, Pteropoda, Sacoglossa e Pulmonata. Não sei audiodescrever cladograma, sorry

They come with a mark around their necks (do slugs have necks?) just so when they want to rip off their heads and grow back a literal entire new body and heart and every part of them expect for their heads

They also steal chloroplasts from algae to eat sunlight
