Look I’m all for upsetting gender norms but like if you wanna be a SAHD and let your wife be the breadwinner buddy you better know how to make a mean lasagna and bleach a toilet properly, do you actually have the skill set to parent well AND manage a home effectively and efficiently?

Yeah this “when I have kids” framing is very clearly by someone who does not have a child let alone more than one. I’m not quite a SAHD and uh kids change what you think you’ll (be able) to do

But yes, the archetype of the breadwinning wife and the layabout video gaming husband is not a box that I think a lot of SAHDs can relate to.
Ironically, writings about mothers are a useful starting point, as I think every SAHD can relate to the profound, attendant loss of identity
