Thetys vagina is a jelly-like tubular animal called a salp. Salp bodies are shaped like barrels, on one end there is a large opening where water goes in, on the other end an equally large opening where water goes out. But that's not the story either...

Imagine you're a salp, swimming through the ocean, doing salp things, and a Football Octopus (Ocythoe tuberculata) comes up to you and just tells "I live here now. You are my house now."

This is Thetys vagina, named for a sea nymph & the Latin for 'sheath', named before the latter word gained its current usage.
Is it a cross between a Gummi bear & a xenomorph?
