Oh! @sarahmbroom received a call from her grandmother the waters were rising & they were calling for help. Then she didn’t hear from her again. 30 days later they found her-in a nursing home in TX where she died. #Katrina #NALPAnnual

From the very beginning, no one could agree on what to call New Orleans East. We know namelessness is a form of naming. 40K acres bought by a TX firm (run by millionaires) called New Orleans East Inc. We just call it the East. - @sarahmbroom #NALPAnnual

In 4th grade, @sarahmbroom was told during a field trip to the French Quarter that this area was our history-where our ancestors had emerged in this city. Our teachers imprinted on us that we spread out across this city as if by magic or fate... #NALPAnnual

@sarahmbroom @SarahMBloom Oh! @sarahmbroom and her brother both worked in the French Quarter as teenagers, travelling over an hour by bus to get to work. Her brother worked as a chef in this very hotel (@SheratonNOLA), along with 2 other jobs. #NALPAnnual
