Last year, I gave a talk on _Strike_ at Mizzou & met Marcus Rautman, who has excavated late Roman Sardis for years. In the book, my favorite inscription is a building contract from Sardis (CIG 3467; 459 CE) that essentially reads like a union contract for a construction job. Today, Dr.R sent this 🥺

once again thinking about the Sardis pizza
Got me thinking about how a random couple from New York moved to Sardis Mississippi and opened up a New York style pizza place. And yeah, 2 hours is too far for a drive for pizza but DAMN if I wouldn't do it.
