It's #Stunday and I think pitcher plants are stunning. These two modified leaves of Sarracenia flava were photographed in the Apalachicola National Forest in the Florida Panhandle. #photography #landscape #ECK #pitcherplants #Sarracenia #biodiversity #ecology #nature

A visit to my friend Michael at Buttonwood Camp in PA where he’s the mastermind behind the landscape there w/ a huge collection of botanicals including carnivorous pitcher plants, a grove of dahlias, bromeliads, & much more!

Look how much they've grown this summer! They're going into their first dormancy now #bogtober

remember to set outside your dormancy having carnivores (dionaea, sarracenia, drosera binata and filiformis)

Some years my sarracenia look like cigars on the inside from dead flies.

Yo!! That’s so awesome!! You got any pics of your bog? I had sarracenia and VFTs once. The sarracenia died first but the VFT held on several years outdoors until a big snow got em and they never woke up. Right now I’m indoor carnivores only.

Yooo let’s go!! I also snagged some pitchers this year (sarracenia) that are outside in a mini bog; they’ve done surprisingly well considering I’ve never grown carnivores before!

They’re just such cool plants!

Lol look up Sarracenia (trumpet pitcher) probably the most fuckable of all the carnivorous plants

Sarracenia flava maxima x (x moorei “red” x leucophylla ‘HCW’).
Most of the plant is green but the lid and even lips develop a white so bright it bleaches the photos. No divisions this year but if it survives winter next year maybe

Potted my bog garden last night! Alt text for the full details!

Ooh, sarracenia!
Which reminds me, I have one of those outdoors which would probably be happier in the potting shed around now.

Might even be the same kind.

The sarracenia thankfully recovered from transplant shock a while back
It’s got its big pitchers back :D

Ugh gotta apply some sulfur-based fungicide to the Sarracenia tomorrow. Maybe they'll actually survive dormancy instead of getting rhizome rot this year. Hopefully the fungicide doesn't smell too strong 😵

Nepenthes or Sarracenia?

Sarracenia (leucophylla x rubra) “Sheridan” OP
Sometimes the open-pollinated plants still turn out great, and this one’s got a lot of leuco white with good veins and some lip blush from rubra. Couple divisions in the Shop

Sarracenia wherryi x leucophylla “original yellow flower, Baldwin Co. AL.” These two are showing off the fall fanfare that leuco puts into its hybrids, with the biggest brightest traps just before frost here. Both are in the Shop
